One Piece's Next Two Sets, and What Separates Them

Official key art for BOOSTER PACK -THE DOMINANCE OF GOD- [OP-18], One Piece Card Game

Four weeks separate the next two One Piece Card Game releases, and the temptation is to treat them as one shopping decision. They are not. One of them is a side release built around a theme, the other is a full mainline expansion that will reshape what people bring to a table, and the difference between those two things decides whether you should be buying to open, buying to play, or sitting one of them out entirely.

Two Releases, Four Weeks Apart

Bandai lists the first as EXTRA BOOSTER -ONE PIECE HEROINES EDITION vol.2- [EB-05], dated for October 2026 on the game's official product page. The second is BOOSTER PACK -THE DOMINANCE OF GOD- [OP-18], which the publisher dates precisely: November 20, 2026. Triad's presales for both are open now, with the Heroines Edition box shipping 10/30/2026 and The Dominance of God box shipping 11/20/2026.

That ordering matters more than it looks. An Extra Booster arriving first means the cards people are opening in early November are not the cards that will define the format in late November. If you are the sort of player who buys one box a season, buying the first one because it arrived first is the most common way to end up with a binder full of cards nobody is playing against.

What an Extra Booster Actually Is

The clearest signal comes from the pack itself. Bandai's product page for EB-05 lists a pack as 12 cards. A standard One Piece booster pack is a smaller object than that, which tells you what an Extra Booster is designed to do: it is a concentrated, themed product where you open more cards at once, built around a hook — in this case the Heroines line, returning for a second volume.

That design has consequences at the table and in the display case. Extra Boosters tend to be reprint-and-alternate-art heavy, which is excellent news if you have been chasing a specific character's artwork and much less relevant if you are trying to solve a matchup. They are collector products with playable cards in them rather than the reverse. If your One Piece habit is building a themed binder, an Extra Booster is the most efficient box you will buy all year. If your habit is showing up to locals with something that wins, it is a luxury.

The Dominance of God is the other shape entirely. The publisher lists it at 127+1 types in total — a full mainline expansion, with the depth that implies. New leaders, new archetypes, and a set legal long enough to matter through the winter. When a format shifts, it shifts on a set like this one.

The Seven-Day Rule Nobody Reads

There is one line buried on Bandai's OP-18 page that changes how you should plan your week, and almost nobody reads it: "Cards included in this product will be tournament legal starting 7 days after the release date in your region."

Seven days. Not release day. That means the box you open on November 20 contains cards you cannot legally play in a sanctioned event until the following week. Every season a handful of people open a box the morning of release, build the deck they have been theorycrafting for a month, drive to an event and find out their list is not legal yet. It is an entirely avoidable disappointment, and it is written on the publisher's own page.

Practically, that gives you a free week. The cards exist, they are in your hands, and nothing stops you from testing them in unsanctioned games while the rest of the format is still guessing. Players who use that week arrive at the first legal event with reps behind them instead of a decklist they have only read.

How to Decide Before the Boxes Land

The useful question is not which set is better. It is which one answers something you already want.

  • If you are collecting a character or an art style, the Heroines Edition is built for exactly that, and buying it sealed to open is the point rather than a compromise.
  • If you are playing to compete through the winter, The Dominance of God is the set that will be on the tables around you, and the earlier you have cards in hand, the more of that free legality week you get to use.
  • If you are doing both, the four-week gap is genuinely helpful. It separates two purchases that would otherwise land in the same month.

One caution worth stating plainly: Bandai's own page notes that specifications remain under development and may differ from the final product. Presale contents are a publisher's stated intention, not a guarantee, and anyone telling you exactly what the chase cards will be right now is guessing. That is true at every store, including this one.

Why This Matters in Wellington and Boynton Beach

Triad runs One Piece locals, and locals are where set releases stop being news and start being a problem you have to solve across a table. A format shift like OP-18 lands differently in a shop than it does in a feed: you see it in what people are sleeving up, what suddenly stops working, and which leader everyone quietly starts building toward. Being three weeks ahead of that conversation is worth more than opening the first box in the room.

Both presales are live now if you want to be ready for either date — the Extra Booster: One Piece Heroines Edition Vol.2 Booster Box is a presale shipping 10/30/2026, and The Dominance of God Booster Box is a presale shipping 11/20/2026. Come by either store and we will talk through which one actually fits how you play, because the honest answer for a lot of people is one of them and not both. Play Bold. Collect Smart. Trade with Trust.
